Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to bring bedding?
We provide comfortable mattresses with clean sheets, duvets and pillows. Please bring your own sleeping bag and blankets if you feel the cold. We also really encourage sleeping outdoors, after all a true re-wilding experience should include at least one night out in the woods or under the stars! Most people rarely get the opportunity so we encourage you take it!

Shall I bring extra food?
We pride ourselves on supplying the best quality, local produce celebrating and supporting the areas hunters, butchers, grocers and bakers. However feel free to bring any extras you may enjoy but be careful not to spoil your re-wilding experience by bringing too many comforts from home. It defeats the purpose.

How far is the nearest shop?
The nearest shop is around 6 miles from the road, and the cottage is around a 15 minute walk from the road. We recommend you collect any supplies before arriving as it is impractical and detrimental to your experience to leave during your time here.

Do I have to get involved in all the activities?
No, we promote freedom here at 7th Rise so you are at liberty to do as much or little as you please. But we do encourage you to at least try things!

What are the sleeping arrangements?
We sleep up to 20 people comfortably in our 7 rustic accommodations, but occasionally during the summer months people love to get outside and sleep in a hand built hide, the hammock village or just out in the woods.

Should I bring my own fishing equipment?
We have a selection of rods here and unless it is a specified fishing course, fishing is not a main 'lesson' but there is always plenty of time over the weekend if you want to wet a line at some point so feel free to bring your own equipment if you prefer.

How do we get from the meeting point to the Cottage?
Sometimes it is possible to get in and out by boat but largely this is impractical and logistically difficult due to boats and tide times/access. The majority of the time we park at the road (off road in a designated layby) and walk down to the Cottage. Allow 10 minutes on the way down and 15 minutes on the way up. It can get muddy at times through the fields and woods so appropriate footwear and a moderate level of fitness is required. Please do not bring pull along luggage. Back packs are much more appropriate and be prepared to carry whatever you bring (including alcohol) for 10-15 minutes.

What is the deposit/cancelation policy?
A 35% non refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due no later than 10 days before the booked date. If you wish to rearrange dates more than 4 weeks before a trip no costs are incurred.

Please see our 'Terms and Conditions' for full refund/rebooking options. We are a niche, outdoor experience by booking only so unfortunately short notice changes leaves us without the sufficient opportunity to rebook the experience.
