"A wonderful escape from the city that reminds me of growing up in New Zealand, a slice of Cornwall that is just like a little cove in the Marlborough Sounds. "

"Was taken to 7th Rise for my stag do and it was absolutely perfect. Beers around the camp fire, archery, axe throwing, butchery, BBQ, swimming in the sea and foraging (which was so interesting). Stu looked after us so well and the food was incredible!!! Couldn't recommend it more!!!!"

"I just wanted to write a small note to say thanks for the recent 6-10 year olds forest school session at your brilliant venue. All the kids were really engaged and loved the adventurous nature of the site, and the activities and course leaders were second to none. Thanks Sally"

"It was a pleasure staying at 7th Rise for a friend’s stag do last weekend; we were treated extremely well and Stu – our host – made every effort to make sure we experienced as much of what 7th Rise has to offer whilst maintaining a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The weekend was wonderfully memorable and I have no hesitation in recommending 7th Rise to anyone who wants a fun weekend away with friends! "

"We visited 7thRise as part of a stag do, and it was an outstanding weekend. The location is right by a river estuary and the setting at the edge of a forest is the perfect place to spend a unique weekend away. The range of accommodation is special, from treehouse bunks, to converted boathouses to a large cottage. Our instructor (Stuart) was a legend and taught us how to manage the camp, a lesson in wild foraging, full deer butchery, and many more. The team were very accommodating with our requests to suit the group and it worked perfectly. Would highly recommend! Thanks Stuart, Jay, Izzie and Thom!"

"Fantastic feeling walking into this place on a Friday afternoon, greeted by our host Matt with some amazing smelling rabbit curry then heading straight off with Jay for some highly competitive snare setting and fire starting. The activities continued to entertain for the remainder - we were a stag party of 13 with about half from military backgrounds, but the activities really offered something for everyone no matter their experience. Matt's cooking was phenomenal the whole weekend, doing justice to our butchered deer and foraged greens. He was really easy going and tolerant of our stag group! The waterside setting and campfire vibe really brings a diverse group together. Loved it! "

"Just got back from my second weekend visit to 7th Rise. It was amazing to spend each morning wild swimming with my sister and making new friends over bushcraft. We stayed in the Hunting Lodge this time which was gorgeous and cosy! Our host Matt was lovely, approachable and a dab hand in the kitchen. Jay was a great teacher for canoeing and archery! Can't wait to book next for next May!"

"We had a simple getaway with me and a few mates to celebrate my best mate getting a new job and leaving the country next week for 2 years. What a perfect place it is, I can't remember the last time I spent time with my friends like that. I guess life gets in the way a lot, but down at 7th Rise it's the real chance to genuinely hang out with your mates again, just like old times. The venue is super cool, the guy that run it are awesome, totally recommend it Steve"

"Hi guys, I am just emailing to say a massive thank you to all your team at 7th Rise for such an incredible stag weekend for my stag do last weekend. We had an amazing time and it was definitely the best stag do I have ever been on and a lot of the guys also felt the same. Also I'd like to say a particular thank you to Stu as our host. He was really helpful, great company, and cooked the best food I have had for a long time! I wish I could do it all over again! Kind regards, Alex Dryden"

Alex Dryden, Leeds, 02 September 2016

"FROM A DAY COURSE FOR JAMIE OLIVERS 15 APPRENTICES - I just wanted to send a MASSIVE ‘Thank you’ for having us last Thursday. It was such an informative and fun day – we all thoroughly enjoyed it. What a place you have! And Matt – your knowledge and passion for wild ingredients is inspiring. Thank you!"

"If you want the perfect unspoilt getaway with amazing surroundings, then this is the place for you! It certainly was for us we stayed in the treehouses which was spotlessly clean and very cosy and totally watertight as it smashed it down with all day and night whilst we were there. If you like to prepare your own food wild false has all the facility's in its outside cooking area, gas burners, bbqs, oven, toaster, wood fired pizza oven etc etc. They provide you with breakfast making foods and fresh eggs and veg from the garden which was fantastic. Toilet facility's are adequate and were clean, the only downside is that the showering facilities are limited and need a it of thought, but we used our solar shower and swam in the river which literally just below you! Amazing place and perfect communication from izzie the manager. One tip would be to pack all your stuff in a rucksack including food as it would have been so much easier carting it down!"

"Just want to say a huge thanks to Thom and his team for giving me the most incredible stag do last weekend. The setting is out of this world and felt like a little slice of Cornish paradise. With beautiful views over the estuary and across verdant woodland, it felt like we'd left the modern world behind and were really getting back to nature. The activities were informative, yet always adventurous, fun and exciting. For me, the highlight had to be the butchery lesson and the foraging, then the food that followed! Special mention to Stu for the incredible food as well, every meal was delicious and just right for a hungry stag party. I spent the whole weekend laughing and couldn't recommend 7th Rise enough if you're looking for something a little different and a little special. Thom, Jay, Stu and the team really went above and beyond to provide an unforgettable experience, I'm already hankering to go back! "

"Just got back from the most perfect digital detox weekend with 7th Rise. Alarms, texts, calls, emails and social media were swapped for bushcraft, foraging, butchery, canoeing and archery. I spent my 'free time' chatting on the woodland swing, wild swimming, lying in a hammock and eating delicious food made by our lovely instructor Stuart. Evenings consisted of chats around the fire and sleeping in a tipi. It truly was the most amazing experience in such a beautiful location and I cannot wait to go back! A huge thank you to those who made the weekend so special- I could not recommend Stuart and the team enough. X"

"I couldn't have asked for a better stag do! After doing the rounds on all the typical British stag do's, I was adamant that I wanted to do something else, something different to what everyone would be expecting and 7th Rise did not disappoint. There is nothing better than hanging around a fire with a stomach full of freshly cooked rabbit stew, a few beers and several guitars and drums to take your mind off the madness of every day life. After waking up on the first morning to the sweet sound of the River Fal and stepping outside straight in to the wilderness is absolutely amazing. One the first day, after a full English breakfast, it was our turn to skin and butcher a deer ready to eat for the rest of the weekend - by this point, the whole stag party didn't want to leave. There was no pressure, no demands and no worries at 7th Rise, everyone felt as if we'd all gone back to being kids and doing what we all enjoyed when we were younger. Stu and Andy were the possibly the best hosts ever, nothing was a problem and they were both more than happy to help, answer our questions or lose graciously at the card game they taught us! This was an unforgettable stag do and I know that I will definitely be returning to the 7th Rise."

Grant Hawkins, Anstey, 30 April 2015

"Another 5* experience. My group thought we had experienced all the delights of 7th Rise last year, but to returned for a second year to find more hidden delights! The new tree house, hunters lodge and sundowners bar made the return worth the wait. Matt the Chef needs a special mention! Great, fabulous food. The freshly caught and cooked shrimps, the venison chilli and the fish pie were a mark of a great, versatile chef. Another special mention has to go to Jay and our canoe adventure, great fun fishing for mackerel, and what a catch. All these adventures in just a couple of days topped off with the best sunset ever, heaven. Thanks Thom. "

"A stag do to remember !! Far from the glitz, glam and stretch limos of many other stag do's - this was different ... and for the better. Hanging out with your buddies, in the woods, building camp fires. Chopping wood, shooting, fishing, or just swinging in a hammock! Miles from anywhere, being men, doing man stuff! Swigging ales and ciders as the sun sets, regaling of stories and jokes and a general commeradery amongst your fellow woodsmen! Do as much or as little as you like - have lazy days and an early night, or get smashed on moonshine and tumble naked and head first down rocks into a nettle patch ! An early morning swim in the freaking refreshing river shakes the hangovers off and prepares you for another awesome day of ... Awesomeness!! A hearty breakfast and then on to stoking the fire up, skin a rabbit ready for cooking in the underground oven, carve stuff out of wood!! This is the place to rekindle days of youth! An absolutely cracking time at 7th Rise ! "

"I honestly didn’t know what to expect before we arrived at 7th Rise for our stag weekend. We’d heard that we could forage for wild food, butcher our own meat, go fishing, and generally live like a wild man of the woods for a weekend. That all sounded fantastic- but the reality was so much more. It’s a genuinely life-affirming and life changing place, where you can unwind in the most incredible setting, hang around in a hammock, whittle sticks (my personal favourite!), learn to grollock a deer and catch up with your friends, away from big city distractions. You learn about living off the land, about nature, and you experience a different way of living that is completely seductive – in fact, it’s made me want to move there! Thom is an excellent host, chef and teacher of all things wild, as well as being a top bloke who is a walking encyclopaedia. You come away excited about the skills you’ve learned, but also keen to use them when you get home. We had an amazing time – lots of laughter, lots of great food, lots of fun. We all left with a smile on our face and I’m not exaggerating when I say it is the best stag I’ve ever been on. Unforgettable. "

Andrew 'Benny' Bentham, London, 03 May 2014

"Wow, what a weekend! We recently held a stag do with Thom and the team at 7th Rise and had a blast. The back to nature approach and numerous activities they offer made it a weekend to remember. Our particular favourite was the butchery session, which is not to be missed. Thank you team 7th Rise. "

Graham John, Hampshire, 03 May 2014

"I'm not sure any words can do 7th Rise justice but I fell in love the moment I saw the cottage. It is an incredible place that depends on the brilliant people who go there to grow and inspire creativity. Taking you back to nature, giving you time to relax and explore, this cottage truly becomes your own for the time you spend there. I've been twice now and as soon as I leave I want to go straight back again!"

Jenny Sibthorp, Dorset, 04 November 2013

"No matter how many recommendations 7th Rise gets, nothing can really describe an individual experience. While at the cottage there is just some magic in the air. This all sounds like a cliche, but the cottage in the woods really is something else. The lovely company, the scenery, the things you learn, (about yourself among other things), gives you a small feeling of peace. If anyone can go and visit for a day or for a month, you should. Even a few hours there will change your way of thinking, just a little bit..."

Tash Laye, Cornwall, 04 November 2013

"The "get away from it all" place to be. If you haven't been yet, get yourself down there for a really exceptional experience, different from just about anything else you've done before."

Rob Edlin, Cornwall, 01 November 2013

"This place is a real true escape from the hustle and bustle of the corporate world many of us exist in! I REALLY relaxed, laughed, enjoyed and learned many new things! I had the best time and came home raving to my friends and family about it! I cannot wait to go back and have lots of friends keen to come too after hearing about our adventures and stories!! x"

Sian Penny, London , 04 October 2013

"I had the most incredible weekend of my life - I learnt and laughed loads and left inspired."
